About me
Hi! I'm Sam, I'm a Mathematics and Musical Studies student at Oberlin College. On the math side, I'm primarily an analyst, and on the music side, I'm primarily a composer. This coming fall, I'll be starting a PhD progam at George Mason University.
This website contains information about my professional and academic work, as well as just some general information about myself and my passion projects. If you'd like to learn more about me, you can find a slightly more extensive description about myself here. If you have questions for me—about myself, my work, or anything else—feel free to send me an email.
This website was first created in Summer 2025, so it remains a bit bare. As I continue to do interesting things I will continue to update this site. Feel free to poke around regardless!
What I'm Up To:
Mathematics:
- Graduating!
- Spending as much time as I can in the math department at Oberlin before I leave.
- Making travel plans to attend GLaMP.
- Organizing my life for the eventual move to Virginia for my PhD program. (Hey, if you're in my cohort and find this page, email me to say hi!)
- Sorting an out-of-context list of things I said during my Honors project. ("You can't hold a measure. You can't put ketchup on a measure.")
Media:
- Listening to Burning Out by Virtual Riot.
- Playing Slay the Spire 2. I played almost 700 hours of STS1—mostly during Covid—so I've been very excited for this one to release.
- Watching Jon Bois (on Secret Base) talk about Scorigami in NFL Football (I don't even like sports that much—this series of videos is fascinating though).
Other:
- Playtesting Misfits.
- Theorycrafting new Magic: The Gathering decks.
- Writing music and jamming out.
- Procrastinating.
